As a director of photography and filmmaker I bring a gritty realism to my work yet infuse it with a sense of humor and pathos. I am endlessly inspired by people, and have worked intimately with celebrities like Ben Stiller to tuberculosis victims in the slums of Delhi.
I recently was the cinematographer for the film MENASHE which was released theatrically by A24 in 2017. It received a 97% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and was nominated for a Gotham and Indie Spirit award.
As a cinematographer my work has shown at Sundance, Berlin, and Camerimage. In the advertising world my work has been nominated for a Cannes Lion and in journalism I have been awarded a first place POY for multimedia project of the year for my work with the NY Times.
I have lectured on film at Duke, NYU, Vanderbilt, and many others universities. I am an alumnus of Boston University College of Communication Film department, an alumnus of the CPB/PBS Producers Academy at WGBH, an IFP Filmmaker Labs fellow, and two time recipient of the NEA funded Southern Circuits Arts Tour. I used to play bass in the hardcore band Trophy Scars. I was born and currently reside in New York City.
